For my brain, it’s always been more valuable to understand the process of getting from point A to point B, rather than just memorizing the value of point B. Sure, if you have the the value memorized you can probably spit it out a little faster, but what if the state at point A changes? What if there are variables along the path? Understanding the process allows you to work out the solution in any situation, not just the ones you prepared for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If I find myself calculating the value of a specific ‘B’ more than a couple times, I’ll usually store that value somewhere it can be readily referenced for future lookups–frequently a bash alias or xmonad key combo.
